WEST SOUND ADMIRALS VS. VALENCIA FLYERS 

WEST SOUND ADMIRALS VS. FRESNO MONSTERS 

 The West Sound Admirals will travel down to California to face the Valencia Flyers tonight, and the Fresno Monsters on Friday and Saturday in Fresno. West Sound is currently on a 13-game skid and is still pointless in the season.

The Flyers are going into the single game very evenly matched and will also hope to break their losing streak—it will be a matter of who wants it more. Valencia won two of three games against West Sound in 2018-2019, defeating the Admirals 12-2 and10-7 in Washington. Of note, Tristan Warr had five points in the three games for Valencia.

The Admirals took a 9-6 victory to avoid the sweep on Feb. 2.

After Valencia, the Admirals will make their way back north and squeeze in two games against the Monsters at Gateway Ice Center. 

The Monsters recently had a convincing series sweep of the Admirals in Washington in late October. West Sound was held to four goals in three games and conceded 32 goals, and was shutout once.

VALENCIA FLYERS VS. ONTARIO AVALANCHE 

After facing the Admirals today, the Flyers will host the Ontario Avalanche for two games at the Ice Station-Valencia. The clubs have three prior games this season with the Avalanche claiming the 2-1 season series lead.

Ontario won the last two games against the Flyers at home winning 6-0 and 4-3 on back-to-back nights. The last time the Avalanche played at the Ice Station, they dropped a 5-4-overtime decision on a goal by Flyer’s Evgenii Semeniuk.

Ontario’s Kyle Barrett had two goals and one assist in the Avalanche’s last two wins over Valencia while Jacob Okihara collected one shutout. Quinn Deshler is going into the weekend series as Ontario’s newest leader in All-Time Games Played, with 137 games.

LAS VEGAS THUNDERBIRDS VS. SAN DIEGO SABERS 

Las Vegas Thunderbirds return to action after enjoying a bye week, to host the visiting San Diego Sabers for three games at Sobe Ice Arena.

The Thunderbirds have lost a little steam after plowing through the Western Division to start the season. They are in a three game losing streak since playing against Ogden. Conversely, San Diego is coming off two wins against the Monsters though they lost a game in the tail end of the series.

San Diego and Las Vegas previously met at the Escondido Ice-O-Plex, and played to an entertaining overtime finish. At the time, the Thunderbirds were undefeated and met resistance from a resilient Sabers team that will need to reach for a similar effort this weekend.

Thunderbirds Captain, Anthony Rodriguez, scored a hat-trick in the game against San Diego.

DALLAS SNIPERS VS. EL PASO RHINOS 

The Texas rivalry reignites in El Paso at the County Events Center. The physical affair is three games deep into the season series with the Rhinos winning all accounts. 

Although El Paso won all three, the Snipers had a near upset to start that series taking the game all the way to shootout. El Paso was held to rather low scoring as Dallas did a fairly good job defensively.

The Rhinos were held to eight goals in three games, and by comparison, went on to score 26 goals their next three games against Valencia. Dallas should look for inspired performances from their top guys but also from Todd Thompson and Alexsey Syrotenko, who were the only two Snipers to score on El Paso.

Oliver Soovik, Rhinos net minder, earned his first shutout against the Snipers on Oct. 5.   

EDSON AEROS VS. SEATTLE TOTEMS/BELLINGHAM BLAZERS

HINTON TIMBERWOLVES VS. BELLINGHAM BLAZERS/SEATTLE TOTEMS  

 The Provincial Division went undefeated against the Northwest Division earlier this season when Seattle and Bellingham traveled to Alberta.

Edson and Hinton will be two of five Canadian teams to travel to the state of Washington. The Aeros will play against the Totems twice at Olympicview Arena, and play Bellingham once at the Bellingham Sportsplex.

The Aeros successfully shutout both teams in their last game against each of them including a 4-0 win against Seattle, and a 6-0 win over the Blazers. 

The Timberwolves had the same positive result as they also swept both Seattle and Bellingham by a 5-0 score. Hinton will mirror Edson’s schedule and play the Blazers twice and the Totems once.  

This is the first time that Canadian teams travel to play against the U.S. based teams when not competing in Showcase or at Thorne Cup.

COLD LAKE HORNETS VS. MEADOW LAKE MUSTANGS 

The Meadow Lake Mustangs are already coming off two consecutive wins against the Cold Lake Hornets. The Mustangs moved to 7-4 and 5-2 wins in the previous home-and-home series.

The Mustangs have been victorious against the Hornets in their last six games having won five and losing a single 8-5 decision that gave Cold Lake their first win of the season.

Of note, Shane Hounsell scored a hat-trick and registered five points to lead the Mustangs to a win over Cold Lake on Nov. 9.

SOUTHERN OREGON SPARTANS VS. OGDEN MUSTANGS 

Southern Oregon will return the favor and play a trio of games in Ogden after hosting the Mustangs in Medford.

 Two weeks ago, the Ogden Mustangs paid a visit to the Southern Oregon Spartans and were met with adversity as the Spartans held them to a 2-1 victory. The first game of the series was closer than the next two with Ogden recovered.

Yuval Halpert and Andrew Rothmeier were the only two players that were able to score for the Spartans in three games,  compared to Ogden who had a more concerted effort. 

As it tends to happen, the Mustangs continued to convincing wins and in total scored 29 goals in three games for a sweep. Ogden is undefeated this season and hasn’t lost at home since the Thorne Cup Finals in April.  

OKLAHOMA CITY BLAZERS VS. STEAMBOAT WRANGLERS 

Steamboat’s fortune will need to find a way to improve, as they are the owners of the largest losing streak with 14 winless games. The waters won’t be any calmer this weekend when they face a strong Oklahoma City Blazers team that is coming off a competitive showing against the Rhinos.

The Blazers lost their last two games to El Paso but not before defeating them at Arctic Edge Ice Arena, in Game 1, to hand them their first loss of the season. Oklahoma City nearly had a second victory but suffered the wrong end of a monstrous four goal rally.

Needless to say, Oklahoma is well tested and set on climbing the standings. The two clubs have never played before and will only play three games this weekend to conclude their 2019-2020 season series.
